PRP Microneedling on Face

PRP is also useful for hair restoration by regenerating new hair follicles and preventing further oxidative damage to current follicles. Basic small areas such as crown of the head and receding hairlines cost $750/treatment and larger areas such a full head area cost $1000/treatment. Only PRP Mesotherapy Injections will be done during this treatment as Microneedling to the scalp is not as effective.

How does PRP work?
PRP treatments use your own blood (hence, also called the Vampire Facial) to separate plasma, where it is most concentrated with nutrients, platelets and growth factors. Platelets are involved in the body's natural healing process and tissue regeneration. Growth factors assist in stem cell migration, and ultimately activate and regenerate cells in the body. By extracting the platelet rich portion of your blood and injecting it back into the skin via Microneedling and Mesotherapy Injections, you are able to fight the signs of aging and correct imperfections.

Microneedling is a natural treatment hat helps rejuvenate the skin without surgery. The treatment uses a dermapen with 12 microneedles that penetrate the skin with a series of vertical “stamps”. The body recognizes that there’s been local trauma to the skin and during the healing process more collagen, elastin, growth factors, and fibrin are released into the area. The result: less dark spots, lines and wrinkles and acne scars, toner and firmer skin, less dark circles, improved complexion and a natural glow to the face.

Mesotherapy Injections use very thin and tiny 4mm needles to inject platelet rich plasma underneath the skin. This helps fill fine lines, Crow's feet, furrows, nasolabials and sunken in areas around the eyes. Mesotherapy Injections are also used to inject PRP into the scalp for hair restoration.

What is a PRP treatment like?
Your skin will first be pre-cleansed and cleansed with Dermologica's Pre-Cleanser and Cleanser. Then, for optimal aeration of the skin, a Dermologica Microfoliant Scrub is used to scrub the skin. After, a medical grade numbing anesthetic cream will be applied and left on for 20 minutes. During this time, our doctors will extract your blood and spin it in a high velocity centrifuge. PRP platelet rich plasma is then transferred to injectable syringes and depending on the type of treatment you select, our doctors will either inject the PRP into the skin first and/or then infuse the rest of the PRP via a microneedling pen.  Once the treatment is completed, leave the PRP on your face and do not wash your face for 24 hours.

How often do you need to come?
The healing process happens at home after the treatment is given. Depending on the desired results and skin conditions, patients are generally recommended to return every 4 weeks for 3 treatments in tandem. Most noticeable results are seen after the second treatment (by weeks 8-12). Patients can maintain their skin by coming in every 3-4 months after the initial 3 treatments.

Possible side effects and complications include:
Mild pain, redness, irritation, itching, pin-point bleeding, heat sensation (like a mild sunburn), tenderness and swelling are the most common side effects. However, these side effects generally subside within 4-24 hours. In rare circumstances, dizziness, feeling faint, bleeding, hyperpigmentation and worsening of the skin may be experienced. Please note that multiple treatment sessions are usually necessary to obtain results and the final outcome may vary or be limited in effect.

What is the difference between PRP Microneedling and PRP Mesotherapy Injections? Which treatment should I get?
With PRP Microneedling you will achieve good results for treatment of mild fine lines, pigmentation, skin tone and mild acne scars. Our microneedling pen has controlled depths of 0.25mm to 3.0mm. The pen will create micro-channels for your PRP to be infused into. However, for more severe cases with deeper wrinkles, darker pigmentation, sunken eyes and deeper ice pick or boxcar acne scars, we recommend injecting PRP directly into the difficient areas. The plasma injections will have a direct filling and regenerating effect on areas injected.
